We are having fun learning our inquiry learning model called "Squidring".
We are also exploring our talents and passions.
Kaleb
Kaleb made a slideshow of one of his origami creations. Follow his set of photos to make your own origami shape.
Picture Ripping
Some of the boys have explored picture ripping, making a picture from a single piece of paper by ripping the shape out of it without the paper coming off altogether. Here is one of their creations, a hand puppet:
Bird Recovery Centre
One of our Tikipunga girls is passionate about saving animals. She made her own arrangements to visit the Whangarei Bird Recovery Centre and took lots of photos. Once her photos were displayed on the wall of the classroom, we discovered that the owner of the centre is the Grandad of one of our boys! Guess who is getting asked to come and visit our unit? Below are the photos she took at the Bird Recovery Centre, and marvel at the way she has scrapbooked her photos:
Children's Work
Some of the work the children are looking in-depth at are shown on this chart. If you are able to help them in any way, they would be extremely grateful. There are some working on talent development and some working on passion time work and some are combining both, just as Leonardo da Vinci did! There are many and varied ideas.
One of Deb's passion is "doodling". She is turning some of her small paper doodles into larger canvas ones!
Anna and Emma
Anna and Emma are making an amazing model of Luna Park in Sydney as part of their passion time work. They have both visited Luna Park and have a passion for model making. Here is the work in progress at the present moment:
Candyfloss in the making!
TJ
TJ has been looking at Pop Art in depth. Here is one of his finished paintings:
